I've seen a lot of files on how to crack File Guard, At Ease, and other
bullocks like that but so far I haven't come across anything dealing with MacPrefect! Well there is something with LockPick but I don't know what that's all about.
Anyway at my old school the security program used to be MacPrefect, and it bugged the shit out of me after a while, until I came up with a solution of bypassing it! It is extremely simple and I wonder why the makers didn't think about this.
So here's what you need:
A disk
A copy of MacPrefect
A valid password for MacPrefect
Now you might ask yourself the question "Where the hell am I gonna get a copy of it AND the password?" You might also ask yourself "If I know the password, then why do I need the program?" The answer to the first one is patience and the use of your brain! Use some lame excuse like "Excuse me but I need to allocate more memory to an application because it needs more RAM to open my document". And when the sysop turns off the
security get a hold of the copy of not only the program but the folder that MacPrefect is in, along with a bunch of other junk. This is important! If you want this to work, you'll need not only the main application folder but all the other shit that's in the same folder as it!!! If that don't go then just wait for the right opportunity, where a machine is left unprotected! You'd be surprised what your imagination can do! I found my copy on an external hard drive that was lying around the computer room one day!
Now how do you get the password? Patience is the keyword here again! The easiest way is to use a keystroke recorder. Or you can just have someone look over the shoulder of the sysop. Or wait for a coincidence! For example, my teacher used Fast Find to find where on the hard drive MacPrefect was located. So every
time he'd disable the program he'd open Fast Find, enter "MacPrefect" and then open it from there. Now one day however, instead of typing "MacPrefect" he typed his password by mistake. So use your illusion!
To answer the second question you have to understand how MacPrefect works! Well it has a function where you can disable the ability for the user to run applications from a disk. However, it allows you to run Prefect from a disk! With other words it thinks you're running the original Prefect application located on the
hard drive! But the beauty of this all is that once you got a valid password and a copy of Prefect on a disk, it does no longer matter what password the sysop uses. Now just open the application on your disk, enter the password, and disable Prefect. And no matter how many times the sysop changes his password, it won't stop you from being able to disable the security.
So even though this might not be much of a help to you, at least the
information is out there!

I included a file called LockPick Generator that generates a serial number for the program LockPick. LockPick is installed in the "Tools" folder where the MacPrefect application resides. LockPick disables MacPrefect allowing you to have your way with the system.
